Your phone has never been backed on this computer

ok, now i've used all iPhones out there and i can't see any backup under iTunes preferences, nor anything in user/library/app support/mobile backups etc.

why can't i backup my phone to my mac? (latest version 10.9.2)

i can only backup to iCloud.
