So, my power button went on the fritz and before I read about the replacement program I went ahead and did the replacement myself (no way of knowing they were going to issue a replacement program of course).
It's a pretty involved fix but I did manage to get it all wrapped up, with a $3.97 ribbon cable with free shipping. The power button now works flawlessly, all other buttons work perfect, EXCEPT my ringer/mute switch. That was a super tricky part of the job (as it's one ribbon for volume keys, mute/ringer, and power button). Has anybody else done this job that can share with me some tricks/tips/hints on how they got the mute/ringer switch back installed correctly? I just feel like when I flip the switch now, it's not actually toggling the tiny little switch that's attached to the ribbon inside the phone.
My ribbon isn't broken, and almost 99.9% the ribbon itself isn't malfunction just because I can tell by the feel of the ringer/mute switch that it's just not catching the switch that's on the ribbon (if you've done this replacement, you'll know what I'm talking about).
Thoughts/hints/tips on how you seated the ribbon so the actual phones ringer/mute switch was fully seated into the tiny little switch on the ribbon itself inside the phone?
Thanks!
P.S. I rarely use that switch as I am a fan of do not disturb function instead... but still... just for OCD's sake I wouldn't mind getting it working again. I can remove my screen and battery, and then fully manipulate the ribbon cable for the ringer/mute switch without taking anything else apart so playing with it to get it seated JUST perfectly is no hassle at all.
