Out of blue with absolutely no external damage my iP5 decided to quit. Any call goes to Fail mode w/o even ringing, however it works perfect in my house since I'm using MicroCell.
First I called ATT if they screwed up something on my account /line. (coincidentally a day before phone died I asked for unlocking which was denied).
Then ATT re-seat/replaced the sim, I tried on my own complete reset w & w/o recovery - still no luck. So I asked Apple for help. Shockingly it worked in Apple store (I guess they must have some signal booster similar to Microcell) but only under orig 6.1.4!?
After they did complete wipe out and upgrade to 7.1 it stopped working at the store (but it still works at my house..) At this point Apple said it's a hardware - they offered me $269+tax replacement which I denied.
Can't believe this iPhone died like that still in pristine condition, especially after my wife's iPhone survive drop in to bucket full of water!
I think this problem must be related to some antenna/receiver booster chip failure but before it goes to trash does anyone has any other idea to try?
TIA
