My phone ran out of battery because I wasn't near a charger. I literally saw the phone reach 1% battery life, then screen turned black with a spinning circle and powered itself off.
When I was able to put the dead phone on charger, something didn't seem to be right. If I am not mistaken, when a dead phone gets plugged in, even though the phone takes a while to power itself on, it would still show a empty battery bar on the black screen with a lighting sign. But the screen was just black after leaving on charge for over 30 mins, it doesn't seem to be charging at all. The holding down Home+Power buttons does nothing either.
What are the possible causes?
Battery shot? On my other iPhone that had battery gone bad, it still showed the empty battery bar on the black screen with a lighting sign, even though the charge doesn't increase.
What's the chance the Phone itself is actually dead? I didn't back up for a week and really needed the data on it.
Btw if it matters, I did use an aftermarket charger in the past 2 days, but now on a AT&T charger.
