iPhone 5 Screen Issue

I've had my iPhone 5 since it was released and have not encountered any problems until recently. Today the screen barely turns on when the home or power buttons are pressed, meaning its just a faint gray. Turning on voiceover (three home button taps) or the silence toggle both indicate the phone is powered on. Every once in awhile when I do not mess with phone I will get the lockscreen to display upon waking it up, however it quickly displays vertical lines and then fades to gray.

I dont believe its software related as I've restored it multiple times, however I cant ever get past the on phone setup since the touch does not seem to register. It was not recently dropped nor did it encounter any water.

I planned on keeping it until the next iPhone is released so not really wanting to replace the phone or spend too much on parts to repair if possible. Anyone encountered this issue or have an idea as to what part(s) are failing? I dont mind fixing it myself, however I'd like to have an idea as to what replacement part I need to fix it. I'm thinking the lcd/digitizer or the mobo. Dont mind the crappy pic with my other phone \.
