Duplicate notifications

So ever since I started using my iPhone 5S with the fingerprint passcode assigned I've noticed that the latest notification on my lock screen gets duplicated when I unlock my phone. For instance, if I get an email pushed to my lock screen and I don't act on it for 5 minutes then when I unlock my phone I'll get the new mail sound and notification banner again (although that was 5 minutes ago). This is super annoying. Anyone else experiencing this and/or have a solution?
