iTunes Backup Utility/Restore Question

Hi,

Please help. I have multiple iTunes backups of every model of iPhone I've ever owned and just got a new iPad Air. Is there a program that will let me merge all the text messages (SMS & iMessage) onto my iPad Air and my future iPhone 5S (when I qualify for an upgrade)?

Since this is my first iPad, I tried to restore from iCloud AND iTunes and both don't restore text messages or contacts from my current iPhone 5. What gives?
