Hello,
I own an iPhone 5, under warranty until early January 2014. I've been getting issue with pink lines showing up on my display (as described here: http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1475173). However it has gotten worse since it first showed up, maybe two or so months ago, and now I've had entire huge chunks of the camera viewer turn purple at times (not the UI though). Even further, the camera has begun locking up so when I launch i.e snapchat or the camera app, it just locks up the entire app until the camera starts responding which when it does you can tell by the click the lens makes (as if it just focused, so it doesn't sound unnatural in itself).
My problem is that I run iOS 6 and quite frankly hate everything about iOS 7. And even if I have considered running iOS 7 to have this solved I'd lose my jailbreak which would pretty much render my device useless until a jailbreak is released again sooner or later. But then I'd still be on iOS 7.
Apple also said to me in a chat that the pink lines fall under "expected behavior", to which I disagree. But I think I should be able to send it in for a free repair with all of this crap.
So, should I try repairing it myself (maybe swapping the camera module) or send it in for repair? Reparing it myself would be faster and would enable me to keep iOS 6 and I'd be able to swap out i.e the mute switch for a silver one  Downside is I'm inexperienced with phone-size components.
Can't decide and I don't have that much time to either. I had it sent in for repair for an audio issue in february and it was returned to me still faulty, which is a time margin I'd like to have really :(
