iPhone 3GS Recovery Loop.

I've done this once before, gotten out of recovery mode loop and installed the 4.2.1 firmware custom to jailbreak but now I would like to get an updated version, I figured if done right. I can avoid getting the recovery loop. Unfortunately not, I cannot get out of the damned recovery loop, I've tried TinyUmbrella to fix and it fixes for about two minutes before restarting back into recovery. Everything on redsn0w wants me to boot into DFU but it wont because it always ends up in recovery mode. I've tried shift-clicking the 4.2.1 firmware I installed which worked last time, on iTunes but its gives me error: 1015. It was several months ago I did the original jailbreak and I don't quite remember the steps to getting out of the recovery loop so I am really just stumped. It is Baseband 6.15 and once out of the recovery mode I would like to upgrade the IOS to 5.1.1 which I've heard you've had to downgrade the baseband, note that I haven't even done anything to the iPhone since all I did was hit restore on the iTunes when it was jailbroken which was probably my first mistake that brought me here. So what solution do you guys know of that works. I am using Windows 7(I read on one site that downgrading doesn't work on Windows 7 but I wouldn't know, I am stuck in recovery hell) If you guys could help me out that would be fantastic.
