Hey guys i bought a brand new still sealed AT&T iPhone 5S from somebody. I went straight to the AT&T store where the rep said that we could use the existing sim card in the phone. She then scanned the barcode on the back and then said everything was good to go. I was unable to activate the phone due to the server being busy/unavailable or something like that so i figured i'd just go home and do it.
I finally got past that screen, however i noticed that the phone number listed when activating was incorrect and it was asking me for the billing zip code and last 4 digits of the social, which obviously i dont know/have. I then went back out to another AT&T store where they gave me a new sim card which i put in, however same thing again. I even tried to do a restore/brand new setup and it still wasn't working. I called AT&T and they said that the IMEI of the phone and everything was registered under my name/account. Which they then suggested that it was an apple software issue.
I had enough so i went to the apple store, which then the genius/specialist also attempted to do a restore however the exisiting phone number was still appearing. He then said that he was escalating the problem so that the apple network engineers can look into it. He was explaining that sometimes these phones come preloaded with a set phone number already in them. So when you turn on the phone and connect it a network it automatically pulls the phone number from the server?
I've owned many iPhones before, but i've never had this problem before. Anyone else have this problem before?
