So many things

I guess I'll start with iCloud backups. I've read some other threads and they always seem to boil down to "your backup is large and your wifi is slow". Well with my case I have neither of those problems. My iCloud backup on my iPhone 5 is 800 megabytes which I have calculated should take less than 30 minutes on my wifi network. I'm not going to post speeds or calculations, just take my word for it because I know what I'm doing.
The problem is after the iphone has finally estimated a time frame (this takes about 20 minutes) it gives me some ridiculous time frame of 18+ hours and won't budge for hours. Knowing the amount of time it should take I just give up because that's just stupid. I've deleted the backups, set up as new account and it still doesn't give me a reasonable time frame.
Second problem is something that no one has found a solution for yet other than doing a full restore and setting up as a new device, which is all fine and dandy except that really sucks. No one wants to set up as a new device when they've used iphones for 5 years and have been using the same backups since then. The problem is "other" storage space. Mine continually grows. I delete a large app, delete music, delete photos just so I can set a reminder sometimes. Yet it continues to grow. I have a 16gig iphone 5 and my other space is 3gigs. It started at less than a gig. This is a major problem because once your storage is at 0 bytes, you can basically do nothing with the phone which requires storage space. Like setting an alarm, or a reminder, or taking a picture. HUGE PAIN.
Next problem is that itunes rarely recognizes my iphone on the wifi network. It just doesn't show up and when it does, since yesterday I am now receiving the "backup cannot be read" error, which suggests a restore. I would do that but whenever my iphone comes on to the network, I get another error stating that the restore cannot be done. Furthermore, I don't know what I'm going to lose if I do a restore because I don't remember the last time I backed up. Thus the reason I wanted iCloud backup to work in case I lost some information.
Furthermore, my only lightning cable that came with the phone is ruined because it got a drop of water on the end and it rusted or something. It will only charge the phone now.
So there's that. Lots of problems that I don't really expect anyone to solve, thought I'd try here first.
