Hey all,
I've had the iphone 4 for about a year and a half under Sprint Relay, a program for deaf and hard of hearing users under a flat fee per month with unlimited data but no voice which is the trade off.
However, when I first used the iphone 4, I've had no problems using my Godaddy email which is a pop3 account for months. It was not until this past summer that sending email was becoming a problem except receiving.
I've tried to install the Godaddy account many times typing in the SMTP and all that info. It would not work. Not even a 3rd party app like Sparrow could 'send' my email. It was so bizarre.
Since my domain name for my portfolio website is tied in with the email address and parked at Godaddy, I've been looking around for options. My website/blog is powered by another blog engine outside of Godaddy.
In a few months, my upgrade eligibility is coming up and I'm considering either iphone 5 or an Android model. If I stick with POP3 mail, I may have to go Android, but if I stay on iOS, I may have to upgrade my godaddy mail to IMAP format.
So, I'm very curious. Has anyone had any experiences using Godaddy's POP email account on iphone/iOS and Android? I'm trying to compare experiences and see how they differ. I do mostly work at a graphic designer/artist, so Dropbox is an important tool for me to send/receive files for clients on private folders. Skype and FaceTime is also valuable if deaf (or hearing ) people need to communicate face to face with me. But a deep, stable and robust email client is very important to me.
Godaddy's 3rd party app for iOS has been a bit flaky time to time because I'm using webmail to access it manually as a 'go around' with the iOS/POP mail issue. I was told months ago by Godaddy that they were phasing out POP mail format so I don't know if the guy was BS-ing me or not.
I'm not in a hurry to upgrade but want to figure things out so when the time comes, I'll know what to do.
I do wonder if ios 7 will solve this problem with the native email app to be more compatible with POP mail?
Thanks!
