So I would like a definite answer to this as I'm trying to do some research for an article. I know it is possible to charge iPhone (and I guess iPads and other iDevices) via USB port while in sleep mode however there are some blank spaces to fill.
So far I know:
- old iPods could be charged via Firewire as it provides power even when in sleep
- in order to have iPhone charged in sleep mode you must connect it first and then put the computer in sleep
- I read somewhere that for Macs you need to have 10.5 Leopard. I wonder if there are some "old timers" around (dont be offended as I myself started on Tiger) who can verify this
- for PCs (regular Wintels) you can adjust this setting under Device Manager - USB port - Power Management via USB suspend function. It is however unclear to me if this is only on some laptops/chipsets or if it's version of Windows
I know its kinda weird question but I would like some definitive answers to this. Thanks.
