We just purchased a new iPhone 5 (Verizon) for my mom three weeks ago. It's the first iPhone in the family, and we set her up with the 2GB data plan. Today we got our first bill from Verizon and I decided to see how she is doing data-wise. The Verizon website allows me to look at a detailed usage, and it appears her phone is connecting dozens of times per day. I know that she's not using it all the time since many of the connections are made during the wee hours of the morning. Most of the data usage events are small (25kb), but there are just so many of them (literally hundreds).
Is this typical for an iPhone? I'm new to this so I don't know if I should be worried or not.
