After spending a considerable time trying to find *Genuine* iPhone 4 backs to replace my broken one, I came across a seller on eBay claiming to be the genuine article. The seller specifically stated, "don't fall for the non-genuine, cheaper parts on eBay - we are an apple authorised seller etc." and it was around twice the price of the fake ones I have seen before.
When it turned up, although good quality, it was a fake.

As you can see, it is clearly a fake. When I contacted the seller, he was adamant it was real and claimed that "apple changes their suppliers sometimes". Whether he genuinely thought that was why or he was lying, I don't know.
I don't think you can buy a genuine back from third parties for anyone searching.
