I've lived in Japan for a year and bought an iPhone 4S. I love the iPhone and my budget tells me that I should keep it for another two years or so. Unfortunately, it has a Softbank simlock and Softbank does not offer unlocks even if you own the device. I have been trying to find a way to unlock my phone, but I have not been able to find something that is both, cheap and legitimate. Seemingly legitimate unlocks cost around $150/150, and it is hard to weed out legitimate from non-legitimate offers.
I've also been thinking about jail breaking my iPhone, but I have already updated to 6.1.3 and my attempt to downgrade to 6.1.2 was not successful (»This device isn't eligible for the requested build.«).
Do you guys have any recommendations?
