Got an IP5 on 3 in the UK.
I travel extensively. I find the automatic network selection on the IP5 when roaming very poor indeed. What seems to happen is that the phone searches for networks, and then tries to connect to the first on the list. If your carrier has no roaming agreement with that carrier, it moves on to the next until it can connect.
In Belgium for example, when doing a manual network selection, the carriers always appear in the same order and 3 only has a roaming agreement with the last carrier on the list the phone comes up with. The end result is that I very frequently end up with no service as presumably the phone tries to connect to a network which 3 has no agreement with when it detects that network has a stronger signal. I therefore have to stay on manual network selection in Belgium.
What I want to know is, do other people find this or do I have a defective phone? Also, by what criteria does the phone list the networks when you manually search?
Thanks
