Hi, recently my iPhone 3GS home button stopped working but was recognised when opening an app, holding the power button until the bar shows then holding the home button until it goes. I then worked around this error by using the assistive touch feature. At this point the phone was not plugged into my computer.
The main problem occurred when I plugged in the phone into the computer to find it not being recognised. I tried it with a different cable (I made sure the cable worked due to charging an old iPod touch), different USB ports and different versions of iTunes. I also tried it on my Windows 7 bootcamp partition but with no luck.
I then did a full reset but with no change to the error. The phone appears to only charge when turned off and the phone turns on when I remove then re-connect the cable.
I am really stuck what to do as I have no warranty and have already had a faulty headphone jack repaired twice.
Also if this is un-fixable is it possible to transfer a backup from my iphone to my 3GS as I have important information in the note pad app.
Any help will be appreciated, thanks.
