I have a 16GB iPhone 4S, and I'm fond of audiobooks. Unfortunately, my phone has the nasty habit of skipping huge swaths of a book, frequently, and seemingly at random. It goes like this - I'll listen for a while, hit pause, come back to my phone however long later, hit play, listen in befuddlement to a completely different part of the story from where I left off, and realize that even though I paused at chapter 16 of part 6, my phone decided to resume at chapter 34 of part 7.
I've already trained myself to never, ever kill the music app while listening to a book, because my phone would never remember where I left off - I'd have to pick a part and skip through the chapters until I hit something familiar. I even try to avoid using another playlist during the 2-week period I have an audiobook checked out from the library, just in case. But for goodness' sake, I at least want the comfort of knowing that my phone will let me jump back in where I left off the last time. It would be unwieldy to have to scribble "chapter 16, part 6" on the back of my hand every time I want to pause. Heaven forbid I end up like that guy in Memento.
Shake to shuffle is turned off.
