Pardon me if this seems like a stupid question, but it appears to me that, once one has stored one's iTunes music library in iCloud, the only way to listen to that music while using an iPhone via a cell connection is to download the songs or albums one wants to hear. It appears streaming only works when one has access to wi-fi. Songs not locally downloaded to my iPhone 4S are greyed out when I'm on 3G/4G but appear available when I'm on wi-fi. Can anyone confirm for me if that's supposed to be the case?
If that is, in fact, the case, then there's no need for me to maintain my iTunes library in iCloud. When I have access to wi-fi, I'm usually in a location where I don't need to listen to music on my iPhone. And given, the fact that my iPhone has only 16 gigs of storage, I'm not doing to be downloading many albums, which is the way I prefer to hear music. Of course, I can always plug my iPhone into my iMac and manually sync a few albums if I desire.
It seems that, since I can stream Internet radio live to my iPhone with acceptable audio quality, the same should be possible with my iTunes library in iCloud. But I may be totally confused. Can anyone set me straight? Thanks in advance.
