Visual Voicemail Seems To Be Shrinking

Hello all,

I've always been able to keep what seemed like roughly 30-50 messages in my visual voicemail on my phone, ever since I've had the original iPhone, however over the last few months, I've kind of felt the amount of storage, or number of messages stored, has been shrinking. Every time I get that message that x% of the voicemail storage space is remaining, it seems like there are less messages needing to be deleted. Today, I got the message that the storage space was 92% full, and when I swiped down to see how many messages I had, there were only 12. None of them were particularly long, either, and there weren't any in the "deleted messages" bin.

I called Verizon, and they said the voicemails are stored on the phone, not Verizion's servers, so it's a problem on my phone. I was under the impression that the voicemails were stored on the service provider's servers, but it does look like the tech support guy was right, because the old messages I have on there didn't take any time to load like they do the first time you play them.

I guess I just need to extract the ones I want to permanently save, but it just seems like Apple would have designed it so it would let you use as much space as you had left on your phone's flash memory.

Any help/advice/suggestions with the voicemail limit shrinking would be appreciated! I can figure out where the voicemail files are stored and save them to my computer.

Thanks!

steiney
