I would love a little insight to see if anyone here has experience or some enlightment on my current situation
I have an iphone 4, my original iphone 4 was replaced by a lovely girl at the apple store in brentwood mall in Burnaby BC. that phone has served me quite well until i decided to replace a broken backplate, i now know that i should have had this done at a apple store. However i had it done at a DMAC Apple Specialist store where a friend of mine works, he replaced the backplate. the next day for some odd reason the top button on the phone stopped working, after a phone call my friend assured me it was coincidence and had nothing to do with the backplate change, soo on i go, until about a month and a half later,, which would be yesterday, my phone shut off. assuming the battery died i plugged the phone back in and wait for it to turn on,, nothing happens, i have no way of turning the phone on because... my top button has ceased working.
so i make an appointment at the apple store and wait patiently, the girl at the apple store this morning was very nice and hopped into the back room to pull the back plate off and disconnect and reconnect the battery, to see if that would help. she then comes back out to tell me that she can not help me as the wiring to the battery and some other parts in the back of the phone are different then the original Apple product, now i have the option of either doing a hardware upgrade... buy a new phone, or renew my telus contract that i LOATHE. so clearly im not stoked, and im about to bust my friends head open, assuming for whatever reason he did a possible battery change, but that idea not making any sense to me.
so i email him and ask him if he can shed some light on the situation, he responds by assuring me he replaced the back plate and NOTHING else. i quite agree with him as it took him less than 5 minutes to replace the back plate of my phone..
SO i have no idea of how to approach the powers that be APPLE, and i really dont want to buck up and buy a new phone,, simply because some one installed different color wiring on my phone, yet i have no idea who or how this happened, basically im annoyed that there is no accountability.
could someone please help?
greatly appreciated,
David
