Hit a speedbump last night, not sure if this is something other people have seen.
A friend just got a T-Mobile iPhone 5, and I encountered two (possibly related) problems in helping with the setup:
1) After adding one of her gmail addresses, the "Mail, Contacts, and Calendar" page of the Settings app would freeze every time I tried to scroll more than 3/4 of the way down the page. Specifically, it would reach the point where I could see exactly 4 of the lines in the Calendar section, but would then lock up and become unresponsive. I believe it's the "Default Calendar" line that was just offscreen every time this freeze would happen.
I noted at the end of this setup attempt that the Calendar app also appeared unresponsive, bringing up a white screen and then crashing to the home screen.
2) When trying to add her second gmail address, clicking the save button would bring up the "Adding Account" text with the spinny wheel, and would hang there, even after being left there for several minutes.
I tried adding the accounts in separate orders, but the first gmail account would add correctly (with the exception of the calendar behavior and the Settings app freeze), and the second account would not add. I deleted the accounts, and even reset to factory settings a few times, but was unable to avoid the Settings app freeze or to successfully add a second gmail account.
(I was able to sync her contacts using a CardDav account, but it seemed like it worked only if that the CardDav account was added before the corresponding gmail address was added as a gmail account.)
I don't have the phone with me at the moment, so I can't try any fixes until late this evening, but I was curious if:
A) Anyone has ever experienced the Settings app freeze? I googled for it but was unable to find anything about it.
B) I'm possibly doing something stupid in trying to add a second gmail account, or missing something about the structure of the two addresses (I don't think one's just an alias for the other, but I suppose I didn't specifically ask to rule that out)
Thanks for any thoughts you can provide.
