i know there are a few threads on this, ive read them all over the internet. basically my friends iphone4's rear camera lens cracked so it was taking crummy pics. he replaced it with an ebay sourced "OEM" camera module. upon reboot, the shutter was stuck closed. figuring it was a bad module, he put the cracked original back in, shutter remained closed. he was certain he replaced and installed correctly, including the ribbon connection. my question is, does this likely sound hardware or software considering the original once worked, but now doesnt after reinstall? im going to disassemble and reinstall to check myself to be sure.
also, theres a few places to source replacement cameras on the internet. however, most reviews i read state they dont have auto focus. does anyone know for sure, where a proper or real OEM replacement can be purchased that will have auto focus working properly. the $5 ebay/amazon ones dont obviously. but do the ones from ifixit.com or etechparts.com have it working? those are closer to $30, so i assume they should.
UPDATE: restore fixed it. the shutter works now. still wondering where i can get a good replacement camera that has working autofocus.
