I have an issue with my iPhone 4 not getting media data over 3G using a pay as you go SIM with vodafone in UK. I've looked at many forums trying to find someone with the same problem as me but haven't found it yet. My issue is complicated and I can't understand what could be wrong.
I have an unlocked iPhone 4 and just recently came to London for vacation, my friend got me a pay as you go vodafone SIM card to use while I'm here, the same one he is using for his iPhone 4. But even when I have paid for service my phone only works with the voice and SMS, but doesn't receive any data above letters. What I mean by this is that I can't load browser pages or YouTube, but I can receive emails and use the Facebook app without getting any pictures from them, just the letters. The 3G label always appears at the top of my phone so I've got connectivity, it's just that my phone refuses to accept larger data that is required for any kind of media. I've added the appropriate APN settings for vodafone and everything should be working, so much that when I swap the SIM cards my friend and I have, my card works fine in his phone and my phone still doesn't get media data. The settings on our phones are identical, with practically the only difference being naturally the model number, yet mine doesn't work and his does with my SIM card. I spent so much money on having this service and data during my vacation but can't use it and my vacation time is halfway over. I wanna fix it and get at least some of my money's worth. Somebody help!
