Official YouTube app update - breaks HD over LTE?

I have an iPhone 5 on Verizon. A few days ago the official Youtube app was updated. Before the update, I was able to view Youtube videos in HD when I was connected via LTE. However, since the update, all videos play at ultra low resolution (jaggies everywhere) with no option for HD. Switching to WIFI clears this up and the videos play fine in HD.

I can, of course, go to the web app in Safari and the videos play fine in HD there too over LTE. However, I prefer the app's interface and responsiveness and it was working perfectly before. Did Google do this to push us to the web app? Is a bug with the latest update? Did Apple or the carriers force Google to place this restriction to reduce data usage?

I have even gone so far as to install Unrestrictor on my Jailbroken phone to force the app into thinking it's on WIFI. However, it doesn't appear to be working with this latest version of the Youtube app because even after enabling it in Unrestrictor, the videos play in the same low quality.

Trying to get some feedback on others' experiences with this?
