How to restore deleted contacts

My husband and I both have iphone 4's. We use the same apple id, but different computers. Last time my husband sync'd his phone all his contacts showed up on mine. I started deleting them all only to find out they were being deleted from his phone too.

How can I get them back? Some of them are critical.
